For the sustainable development of Norderney.
For us at CDU Norderney, sustainability is more than a slogan – it is a responsibility. We want to preserve what is good and valuable while moving necessary change forward with sound judgement and determination.
Norderney is where we live, work and enjoy life. We want to shape tourism, housing, healthcare, the environment and social cohesion together, so that our island remains a good place for every generation.
Our priorities

Tourism and the economy
Tourism and the economy are the foundation of a strong Norderney. We want to safeguard jobs, support local businesses and create good conditions for responsible economic development. The island’s unique natural environment must be protected and treated with care, because it is the basis of our appeal as a destination.

Housing and construction
Housing is one of the island’s most important issues for the future. We want to create a range of housing options in cooperation with the town, private owners and local businesses. Multigenerational housing models can be a valuable addition to the options already available.

Healthcare and social responsibility
Norderney needs reliable, modern and accessible healthcare in the long term – for residents and visitors alike. Childcare centres, schools, holiday childcare, support for older people, volunteering and local associations are essential to a strong community.

Living environment and nature conservation
We want to protect the island’s natural environment and the Wadden Sea World Heritage Site. Mobility, transport and energy supply must be developed in a sustainable, realistic and reliable way. Renewable energy should be used responsibly and for the benefit of the people who live on the island.
